Bedford Conservation Commission Rejects Recommendation for 15-Lot Subdivision at Wallace Road
BEDFORD — May 26, 2026 — Bedford's Conservation Commission unanimously declined to recommend approval of a proposed 15-lot subdivision that would fill 6,875 square feet of wetlands at 410 Wallace Road. The board voted 7-0 Monday to send the application to the Planning Board without endorsement, citing what Chair Grant Killian called "the fragmentation of the habitat" and the "long-term degradation of the ecosystem" posed by the project, particularly by the westernmost Lot 5, which requires its own wetland crossing near a high-value section of the Riddlebrook corridor. Potter Properties, LLC, represented by George Chadwick of Bedford Design, has submitted all required state permits and expects Fish and Game's final response within 30 days; the Planning Board hearing is expected to continue to June 15. The commission also voted unanimously to award Tulip Trails a contract for construction of a viewing platform at Pulpit Rock, funded largely by an 80-percent state grant on an estimated $31,000 project.
