Arlington Formally Adopts Comprehensive Plan to Steer Next Decade of Growth

Arlington has formally adopted a new comprehensive plan to guide growth and land use over the coming decade, per Arlington Patch, just as the school district closes out the academic year with several key calendar dates falling in the next five days.

SCHOOLS

Arlington Public Schools is in the home stretch of the 2025-2026 year. June 18 is the last day for kindergartners, and pre-K students also wrap up that day with an 11:30 a.m. half-day dismissal — both dates contingent on snow days used during the year. June 19 is a no-school day in observance of Juneteenth. Kindergarten screenings for incoming students are scheduled for June 22.

The district's 2026-2027 online registration portal is temporarily offline for maintenance; families should watch the APS website for updates on when it comes back online. Recent district news also spotlights a Reusables Roll Out now under way at APS schools and a superintendent's message celebrating the new Arlington High School building.
