Wayland ZBA upholds Veritas Christian Academy building permit on 4-1 vote
WAYLAND — February 10, 2026 — Wayland ZBA upholds Veritas Christian Academy building permit on 4-1 vote. The Zoning Board of Appeals on Feb. 10 affirmed the Planning Board's April 15, 2025 site-plan approval and the Oct. 30, 2025 building permit for the school at 172 Cochituate Road, rejecting an appeal filed by Adam Mascari through Verrill Law. Chair Thomas White structured deliberations around three findings; the board split 4-1 on whether the Planning Board adequately considered Article 16, with member Adam Hirsh dissenting, then voted 5-0 that the site plan conforms and 5-0 that no setbacks were violated. "I do not see any deviation from what was reviewed to what has been produced so far," Building Commissioner Nolan Maltinsky told the board. Member Aida Gennis, joining remotely, said the building permit "is valid." The board also unanimously approved a special permit for Richard Thomas to build a garage at 135 Commonwealth Road with an 8.7-foot side-yard setback.
