Wayland steps up patrols at houses of worship after California mosque attack

WAYLAND — The Town of Wayland and the Wayland Police Department issued a statement Thursday in response to recent national and international events, including a deadly attack on a San Diego mosque earlier this month, and police said patrols are being increased at local houses of worship as a precaution. The town also activated its "Know Your Rights" immigration resources page, and crews began a weeks-long weekday lane closure on Oak Street the same morning.

TOWN HALL

Town officials posted multiple advisories Thursday morning under the umbrella of a broader public-safety statement on current national and international events. A separate notice specifically addressed the May mosque shooting in San Diego. Police stressed there is no known threat to any Wayland congregation but said visible patrols around houses of worship will be stepped up as a reassurance measure. The town's Immigration "Know Your Rights" page was also re-circulated on the News Flash feed.
