Wayland sets Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony for May 25

WAYLAND — The Public Ceremonies Committee on Monday formally announced Wayland's 2026 Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony of Remembrance, set for Monday, May 25, as the town gears up for the long weekend and the seasonal reopening of the Lake Cochituate town beach.

TOWN HALL

The Wayland Public Ceremonies Committee on Monday morning announced details for the town's 2026 Memorial Day observance, a parade and Ceremony of Remembrance honoring Wayland's fallen veterans on Monday, May 25. The full program is posted to the town's News Flash.

Town offices also issued a correction Monday afternoon for a previously posted legal notice: the Zoom link for the upcoming public hearing on outdoor dining at the Dudley Chateau has changed because of a town website update. Residents who plan to attend remotely should use the town's current Public Body Meeting Information page rather than the link in the original posting.

SCHOOLS

Wayland Public Schools' latest All Schools News bulletin, dated May 13, remains the most recent district-wide communication, with the next edition due Wednesday. Families with items for that bulletin must email All_SchoolsNews@WaylandPS.Org by end of day Friday.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Council on Aging will be closed Tuesday, May 19, and again Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday. The COA's May newsletter is available on the department's homepage.

The Wayland Museum & Historical Society's Tracing Liberty series continues Sunday, May 31, with a 9 a.m. "Walk, Wonder, and Discover!" outing at the Lake Cochituate town beach, 25 Parkland Drive. The museum's spring house tour, "Still Standing," and the May 13 talk on Chinese soldiers in the Civil War have already taken place.

Vokes Players, the community theater on Boston Post Road, is promoting two upcoming shows: a concert staging of the musical "1776," produced jointly with the Wayland 250 Committee and the Wayland High School theater department at WHS on June 12 and June 13 at 7:30 p.m.; and Joe DiPietro's comedy "Over the River and Through the Woods," directed by David Berti, running July 24 through Aug. 8.
