Wayland Select Board sends seven articles to 2026 Town Meeting warrant
WAYLAND — January 14, 2026 — Wayland Select Board advances seven articles to 2026 warrant ahead of Thursday deadline. The board, chaired by Carol B. Martin and meeting without Vice-Chair Doug Levine, voted 4-0 to submit articles transferring $500,000 to the FY26 Fire Payroll Budget, accepting state green-burial authority, broadening the annual town meeting window to March 15-June 1, and appropriating up to $200,000 for a preliminary design study of the 13.72-acre town-owned parcel at 25 Holiday Road. With KP Law counsel Katherine Klein, the board amended the Mass Central Rail Trail easement article to authorize temporary easements on three private parcels and NP Wayland LLC property, conditioned on Commonwealth reimbursement. Member Thomas J. Fay said DCR "should do this" itself. A planning board appeals article passed 3-0-1 with William Whitney abstaining. Member Anne Brensley left at 12:23 p.m.
