Wayland Select Board pulls senior tax credit article from Town Meeting warrant
WAYLAND — March 30, 2026 — Wayland Select Board pulls senior tax credit article after counsel calls it "repugnant" to state law. Meeting remotely March 30 with three of five members present, the board voted 2-0-1 to withdraw Article KK, a proposed $500 fourth-quarter tax credit for homeowners 65 and older with 20-plus years in town and no children in public schools; Chair Carol B. Martin abstained, citing concern the Senior Tax Relief Committee had no time to amend. In a 2-1-0 vote over Martin's objection, the board reordered the Town Meeting warrant to move the Long-Term Water Supply and 25 Holiday Road articles immediately after the omnibus budget. The board also voted 3-0-0 to disband the Route 20 South Landfill Visioning Committee and the 212 Cochituate Road Advisory Committee and authorized Town Manager Michael McCall and member Thomas J. Fay to issue an RFP for disability housing at 212 Cochituate Road. McCall reported a $1,402,809.76 FEMA grant for Snake Brook Dam and an approximately $640,000 snow and ice overage.
