Wayland Select Board locks in warrant articles for May town meeting

WAYLAND — March 16, 2026 — Wayland Select Board closes out 2026 Annual Town Meeting warrant in marathon session. The board voted 4-0 to re-support Article HH on long-term water supply construction funding and 4-0 to co-sponsor Article DD, appropriating money for preliminary design and an appraisal at 25 Holiday Road, after member William Whitney negotiated a revised draft the School Committee endorsed 3-1. Chair Carol B. Martin and Town Manager Michael McCall identified roughly $200,000 in sale-of-real-estate funds as a potential source. The board also voted 3-0 to support Article O on personnel bylaws and union agreements, accepted an anonymous gift of two Historic Route 20 signs, and approved an amended all-alcohol license for URBN Wayland Village LLC d/b/a Terrain at 297 Boston Post Road. On five Sherman's Bridge Road citizens' petitions, town counsel advised the articles can function only as non-binding resolutions; Whitney said write-ups must make clear "there's no binding effect."
