Wayland Select Board advances Town Meeting warrant, rejects all six Sherman's Bridge petitions

WAYLAND — March 9, 2026 — Wayland Select Board advances most Town Meeting articles, rejects all six Sherman's Bridge petitions. The board voted 5-0 to approve a third amendment to Town Manager Michael McCall's contract at a $256,750 base salary effective Feb. 27, with member Thomas J. Fay calling the review "positive and complimentary." Finance Director Brian Keveny urged rejection of a Board of Public Works request to draw $200,000 from Wastewater retained earnings, noting the fund has fallen from $4 million in 2013 to $1.4 million; the board approved Article E, the Enterprise Fund budgets, 5-0 without the draw. All six Sherman's Bridge citizen petitions failed 0-5, and a Planning Board proposal to raise Route 20 West building heights from 35 to 58 feet failed 2-3. Keveny said a 4 percent, 20-year loan for the $38.6 million MWRA-and-Happy-Hollow water project would carry roughly $16.2 million in interest, prompting the board to defer Article HH.
