Wayland Police investigate vehicle submerged in Lake Cochituate

WAYLAND — Wayland Police and mutual aid partners spent part of the weekend working a report of a vehicle submerged in Lake Cochituate, the town confirmed Sunday afternoon. The investigation, now in cooperation with state authorities, headlines an otherwise quiet Sunday in town as local arts and history programming ramps up for June.

TOWN HALL Wayland Police are investigating a report of a vehicle submerged in Lake Cochituate, according to a News Flash posted Sunday afternoon. The department said it responded Saturday with mutual aid partners and is continuing to work with outside agencies. SCHOOLS The district's weekly All Schools News went out June 3, with announcements including Wayland Junior Broadway and routine end-of-year items. The next bulletin's submission deadline is Friday for the following Wednesday's distribution. COMMUNITY & ARTS The Wayland Museum & Historical Society hosts an in-person author talk Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m. with Tilly Laskey, whose book "Precious & Adored: Love Letters of Rose Cleveland & Evangeline Simpson Whipple, 1890–1918" anchors this month's Tracing Liberty programming. The Tracing Liberty series, tied to the nation's 250th anniversary, also has a Walk, Wonder, and Discover nature walk set for June 28 at the Dudley Woods Trail.

Vokes Players and the Wayland 250 Committee, together with the Wayland High School theater department, will stage a concert version of "1776" at Wayland High School on June 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. The community theater's regular summer production, Joe DiPietro's "Over the River and Through the Woods," directed by David Berti, opens July 24 and runs through Aug. 8.

The Council on Aging's June newsletter is out, and the COA is promoting its one-year anniversary celebration at 8 Andrew Ave. along with the 15th annual Summer Concert Series.
