Wayland Planning Board continues Carroll School hearing to April 15

WAYLAND — March 25, 2026 — Wayland Planning Board continues Carroll School site plan hearing to April 15. The board voted 5-0 to continue the hearing on the 37-45 Waltham Road project after working through draft conditions with the school's attorney William Perea and neighborhood counsel Dan Hill. Chair Anette Lewis said the board would accept the school's offered $5,000 traffic mitigation contribution but, on town counsel's advice, rejected Hill's request for a $50,000 fund and a blanket ban on leasing school facilities. Vice Chair Robin Borgestedt proposed limiting use of the property to "educational uses consistent with the application" within standard hours. The board declined to condition use of a barn at 10A Apple Tree Lane, citing the structure's pre-1982 existence. Lewis also told members the Finance Committee had withdrawn its 7-0 endorsement of the Route 20 West Multi-Family Housing Sub-District ahead of the May 4 Town Meeting.
