Wayland housing trust weighs six-acre Gleason Lane parcel for affordable development

WAYLAND — March 3, 2026 — Wayland housing trust weighs six-acre Gleason Lane parcel as price drops. The Municipal Affordable Housing Trust on March 3 discussed a possible acquisition of 17 Gleason Lane after member Susan Weinstein flagged a falling asking price on land adjacent to a town school parcel. Chair Michael Staiti, a developer who said he had the property under agreement for about two weeks at $1.25 million before passing, told members he would recuse himself from any trust action on the site. He warned that a 40B permit there would draw "very, very deep-pocketed" abutters and "hundreds of thousands of dollars of legal fees," and estimated the land's true value closer to $1 million. Weinstein will approach Town Manager Tom Fay about town or CPA funds. The trust also approved its Feb. 24 minutes 4-0, clarifying that Cornerstone Engineering invoice 1722 covered work at 12 Hammond Road.
