Wayland housing trust approves $40,000 for regional housing office

WAYLAND — January 13, 2026 — Wayland's Municipal Affordable Housing Trust approves $40,000 for regional housing services and clears a Habitat condo deed. The board voted 4-0 on Jan. 13 to fund two years of the Regional Housing Services Office from non-CPA funds at Town Planner Robert Hummel's request, after Treasurer Susan Weinstein noted the Community Preservation Committee had already filed a separate $60,000 warrant article for the next Housing Production Plan. Members also authorized Chair Michael Staiti to sign the 12 Hammond Road condo master deed and pay up to $300 to Shocket and Dockser for recording, though Staiti said a special permit amendment has languished at the ZBA and town counsel for months: "I chase them every couple of weeks, and I'm getting nowhere." The trust re-elected Staiti, Vice Chair Jacqueline Espiritusanto-Vega, Clerk Mary M. Antes and Weinstein as treasurer, and reported total assets of $1,889,043 with two CDs rolling at 3.35 percent.
