Wayland EDC votes 7-0 to seek Route 20 zoning amendment
WAYLAND — March 20, 2026 — Wayland EDC unanimously urges Planning Board to amend Route 20 West MBTA zoning before town meeting. The Economic Development Committee voted 7-0 on March 20 to back Chair Rebecca Stanizzi and member S. Alihan Polat's recommendation that Article OO — which would raise heights to 58 feet and density to 32 units per acre across a 7.9-acre district, allowing up to 253 units — be amended on the town meeting floor to push setbacks to 80 feet, cap front sections at three stories and limit façade length along Route 20. Stanizzi said 58 feet just 30 feet from the road is "big," contrasting it with Alta Oxbow's 200-foot setback for its tallest sections. The committee also approved two infographics (7-0 and 6-0) and heard from member Jeff Vecchio that a $3 split commercial tax rate increase could yield roughly $480,000 annually, citing Lincoln at $18.78, Sudbury at $21.54 and Framingham at $23.97. Residents John Weintraub, Nicolette Mascari and Jessica Traue presented a Town Center dog park plan that ownership has agreed to substantially fund.
