Wayland CPC sends two warrant articles to 2026 Annual Town Meeting
WAYLAND — January 7, 2026 — Wayland Community Preservation Committee finalizes 2026 Town Meeting slate with expanded Dudley Pond study. Chair Susan Weinstein's committee voted unanimously to forward a set-asides article allocating $145,862 each to community housing, historic resources and open space, plus $374,032 in Mainstone debt service and $20,000 for administration. A separate project appropriations article includes a revised $123,000 Dudley Pond recreational-opportunities study presented by staff member Abby, and a new $25,000 line for archaeological monitoring of funded projects including boardwalks at Hamlen Woods and Trout Brook. Member Katherine Gardner Wescott said local monitoring isn't legally mandated but that the CPC can require it: "If we put it as a condition, then it is a requirement," Weinstein said. Sean P. Fair abstained on the Dudley Pond vote after joining mid-discussion.
