Wayland Board of Health ratifies partial condemnation of 10 Shore Drive home

WAYLAND — March 16, 2026 — Wayland Board of Health ratifies partial condemnation of four rooms at 10 Shore Drive. The board voted 5-0 Monday to back the Health Department's order against homeowner Gene Preston, 78, after questioning her about extension cords run under rugs, a frozen pipe, unheated rooms and a roof she said she is trying to finance through a loan. Chair Robert Defrancesco told Preston "the goal is not to get you out of the house, but to make the house safe for you to be there." The board also voted 5-0 to grandfather 17 Sylvan Way as a four-bedroom for a septic repair, 5-0 to give 106 Concord Road owner Nick Sambuco up to three years to install an upgraded system after a garage addition, and 5-0 to accept a Title 5 mounding analysis showing just 0.128 feet of mounding for The Carroll School expansion's 3,300-gallon-per-day system.
