TOWNSEND — April 13, 2026 — Townsend Board of Health votes to hire new recycling attendant and eyes mandatory hauler recycling rules. The board voted unanimously at its April 13 meeting to recommend Jeffrey Moon, 20, for the Recycling Center Attendant 1 position, with a projected start date of May 2 pending a Select Board background check at its April 21 meeting. Financial consultant Elizabeth Barth reported the Solid Waste and Recycling Enterprise Fund is projecting a positive balance of roughly $26,000 after April, with the Shaw's contract billing $56,394.90 most recently, prompting Chair Dr. Christian Romero Ramirez to note the final fiscal months will require "close monitoring."
