Town Closes Friday for Juneteenth; Trash Collection Delayed One Day

Town Hall, the Public Library, and the Senior Center will all be shuttered Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, and residents can expect their curbside trash and recycling collection to slide by one day for the rest of the week.

**TOWN HALL**

The closure Friday covers Town Hall and all municipal offices, including the Hopkinton Public Library and the Hopkinton Senior Center. There will be no curbside trash or recycling pickup on Friday, June 19; collection resumes on a one-day-delayed schedule through the remainder of the week. Town Hall is open today, Thursday, June 18, during regular business hours.

**SCHOOLS**

Hopkinton Public Schools are also closed Friday for Juneteenth, giving students a long weekend before the sprint to the finish line. High school semester exams are scheduled June 22 (exams 3 and 4) and June 23 (exams 5 and 6), with a final exam session and makeup day on June 24. The last day of school for grades K–11 is June 24, with an early dismissal at 12:20 p.m.; no lunch will be served that day, and report cards go home the same afternoon.

**COMMUNITY & ARTS**

The Hopkinton Public Library extends its Juneteenth closure through the weekend: the building will be dark Friday, June 19, through Sunday, June 21, and will reopen Monday, June 22, under its summer hours (Monday–Thursday 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Friday–Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., closed Sundays through Labor Day). Patrons heading in should also note that the Main Street entrance ramp remains closed for accessibility upgrades; use the Church Street ramp.

Looking ahead to next week, the library has a full slate. On the evening of June 23, the Betty Strong Room hosts a Martell Magic Show from 6–7 p.m., and the 250th National Treasures Book Group meets from 6:15–7:15 p.m. in the Ellsworth Conference Room. A virtual program, "Simple, Sustainable, and Powerfully Delicious Meals," runs 2–3 p.m. that same afternoon. On June 24 — the last day of school — the library throws a Last Day of School Arcade in the Betty Strong Room from 12:30–3:30 p.m., and Music and Movement for young children runs 10:30–11:15 a.m.
