Sudbury ZBA grants 684 Boston Post Road time-limited permit with 35-car cap
SUDBURY — April 6, 2026 — Sudbury ZBA grants 684 Boston Post Road a nine-month permit with a 35-car cap. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 5-0 Monday to issue Michael J. Griffin a time-limited special permit expiring Dec. 31, 2026, with conditions requiring the site be reduced to 35 vehicles by June 30, appropriate fencing on the north and west sides, and long-term restoration and parts cars moved to the rear or off-site. Chair John Riordan told Griffin he was "running an auto salvage and junkyard," citing a derelict Ford pickup at the front and the bylaw's exclusion of "cannibalization of parts" from the definition of motor vehicle repair. Griffin said he had moved 36 cars off the property, bringing the count to about 50, down from a peak of 91. Building Inspector Andrew Lewis was given discretion to grant an extension if Griffin's scheduled May 15 surgery delays compliance. The board also voted unanimously to recommend attorney Ian Henchy of Blatman, Bobrowski, Haverty and Silverstein for a one-year associate seat.
