Sudbury Senior Center Wins Cummings Grant to Launch Lunch Program

SUDBURY — The Sudbury Senior Center is preparing to roll out a new lunch program after being named one of 150 nonprofits to share in a Cummings Foundation grant cycle, per Sudbury Patch — the most consequential local development heading into a quiet midweek news cycle.

SCHOOLS

Sudbury Public Schools is pointing families toward two community items posted June 2 on the district news page. A Sudbury Fixit Clinic is set for Saturday, June 13, at the Goodnow Library, where volunteers help residents repair broken household items rather than throw them out. HOPEsudbury's annual Backpack Drive has also opened client registration, which will remain open through June 26 for families who need school supplies for the fall.

District families should also note key end-of-year dates on the SPS calendar: the next School Committee meeting is Monday, June 15, at 7 p.m.; Thursday, June 18, is the last day of school with an early release; Friday, June 19, is closed for Juneteenth; Loring School's last day is Monday, June 22 (early release); and the final day of school for the rest of the district is Tuesday, June 23.

At Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens's June 1 "LS News & Happenings" remains the most recent message to regional district families as the school year winds down.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Sudbury Senior Center is operating on its summer schedule through Sept. 30: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday; and 9 a.m. to noon Friday. June registration for non-fitness programs is open to Sudbury residents and non-residents alike; registration for the Summer I fitness session opens June 29 for residents and June 30 for non-residents, with classes starting the week of July 6.
