Sudbury opens cooling centers and sets Pride Day for Sunday at Curtis
SUDBURY — The town activated its cooling-center network Tuesday as forecasters warned of high temperatures, while officials marked LGBTQ+ Pride Month and pointed residents to Sunday's Sudbury Pride Day at Curtis Middle School. The Community Preservation Committee also opened its annual application window for project proposals.

With heat in the forecast, the Fire Department reminded residents that Sudbury's designated cooling centers are open for anyone needing relief. Locations and hours are posted on the town website, and officials urged residents to check on older neighbors and limit outdoor exertion during peak afternoon hours.
The Select Board formally recognized June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month and flagged Sudbury Pride Day on Sunday, June 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Curtis Middle School, 22 Pratts Mill Road. Separately, the Community Preservation Committee announced it is now accepting qualifying project proposals in open space and recreation, historic preservation and community housing; projects recommended by the CPC would go before the May 2027 Annual Town Meeting.
Town Manager Andy Sheehan held open office hours Monday for residents to raise concerns directly. Looking ahead, the Liberty Ledge/Sewataro Advisory Committee has scheduled a public input session on the future of the Liberty Ledge property for June 24, and a Landscape Master Plan Workshop covering Fairbank Community Center green spaces and Haskell Field is set for June 11.
SCHOOLS
The district flagged a Sudbury Fixit Clinic on Saturday, June 13, at the Goodnow Library, where residents can bring broken household items for volunteer repair help. HOPEsudbury's annual Backpack Drive is open for client registration through June 26, and an Anti-Hate Anti-Bias Taskforce meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10.
Families should note key calendar dates as the year winds down: the School Committee meets Monday, June 15; the last day of school is an early release on Thursday, June 18; Juneteenth means no school on Friday, June 19; Loring's last day (early release) is Monday, June 22; and the 185th and final day of school for the rest of the district falls on Tuesday, June 23.

COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Senior Center is operating on summer hours through Sept. 30: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday; and 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Registration for Summer I Fitness classes opens June 29 for Sudbury residents and June 30 for non-residents, with classes beginning the week of July 6. Sign-ups go through (978) 443-3055.
Sudbury Pride Day at Curtis Middle School on June 14 anchors the community calendar this weekend, followed by the Fixit Clinic at Goodnow Library the following Saturday.
