Sudbury Finance Committee defers FY27 warrant votes to March 16

SUDBURY — March 9, 2026 — Sudbury FinCom defers FY27 warrant votes a week but signals broad support across the package. Co-Chair Michael Ferrari led members through the $131,763,603 operating budget under Article 3, the $1,195,600 town manager's capital budget under Article 4, and roughly a dozen other articles on March 9, holding formal votes for the March 16 meeting so absent Co-Chair Michael Joachim could participate. Henry P. Sorett said he would vote no on the operating budget over warrant-format granularity, citing positions he would strike if allowed. Ryan Lynch criticized the capital-review process, saying alternatives analysis is missing: "We have one choice that says we're going to go buy a Ford F-250." Eric Poch flagged $400 million to $500 million in 15-year capital needs as a structural funding problem. Assistant Town Manager and Finance Director Victor Garofalo reported a current snow and ice deficit of roughly $700,000 to $750,000, with a May transfer anticipated.
