Sudbury Community Preservation Committee holds sparsely attended annual hearing
SUDBURY — April 15, 2026 — Just two residents spoke at Sudbury's annual Community Preservation Act public hearing on April 15. Director of Planning and Community Development Adam Burney presented a 24-year overview to Chair Sherrill P. Cline, Vice Chair Sam Markuse and member Daniel E. Carty, reporting that the town's 3 percent surcharge has raised just under $40 million, drawn roughly $15 million in state match, and generated more than $2.2 million in reserve interest. Through fiscal 2025, town meeting has appropriated about $36 million for open space and recreation, $8 million for housing and $5 million for historic preservation. Resident Alicia Carlo urged the committee to "prioritize projects other than dog parks," while Tanya Wakitski of Musketaquid Village warned, "don't forget about truly affordable housing, because some of the so-called affordable housing is not really affordable housing." Cline said she was "really surprised that there's nobody here."
