SUDBURY — January 14, 2026 — Sudbury Board of Health hears restructuring rollout, flu surge and pool calibration issues. Director of Health and Community Services Vivian briefed the board Jan. 14 on the new integrated division, now overseeing recreation and veterans services alongside public health with Town Manager Andy Sheehan's backing, calling modern public health "no longer centered solely on regulatory enforcement, but on education, collaboration and prevention." Public Health Nurse Katie reported 59 confirmed flu cases logged in Maven, "very high" statewide activity and four pediatric deaths. Social workers Nina and Kirsten said the December coat drive reached more than 120 residents, with an Emerson grant approved for after-school programming. The assistant health director posting closes for priority review Jan. 20, and Public Health Excellence regional grant funding past FY27 remains uncertain. The board approved Dec. 10 minutes and set a standing second-Wednesday 5 p.m. meeting time; next meeting Feb. 11.
