Stoneham School Building Committee Approves $396,000 in Contractor Payments
STONEHAM — March 16, 2026 — Stoneham's High School Building Committee approved more than $396,000 in contractor payments and learned $1.8 million in contingency remains as the project approaches closeout. The committee unanimously approved Warrant 76 for $318,005.22 to Consigli Construction, Change Order 54 valued at $8,000.50, and three professional-services amendments totaling $78,162 — including a $59,052 SMMA amendment covering four months of post-substantial-completion work. Project manager Julie told the committee that even after all pending change orders are resolved at face value, $1,814,887 remains in contingency, though she cautioned that the town's MSBA reimbursement rate of 55.1 percent applies only to eligible costs and that the effective return rate is likely closer to 40 percent. Members voted to place a full review of previously cut furniture, fixtures, and equipment — including a second Toro utility vehicle flagged as critical after this winter's storms — on the April 27 agenda, with roughly $1,008,000 expected to remain in contingency even after that list is examined.
