Planning Board approves Wayside Inn pavilion as minor site plan modification

SUDBURY — January 14, 2026 — Sudbury Planning Board greenlights Wayside Inn timber-frame pavilion and grants Eversource a one-year stormwater extension. The board voted unanimously Jan. 14 to qualify the roughly 1,600-square-foot pegged timber-frame pavilion at 73 Wayside Inn Road as a minor site plan modification, allowing Planning Director Adam Duchesneau to issue administrative approval. Victor Sokarsky, a Wayside Inn board member presenting for the nonprofit, said operations alone "don't support a lot of the capital things we have to do," including a coming full window replacement. Vice-Chair John Sugrue said existing parking was adequate and he "wouldn't want to see more parking put in that isn't necessary." The board also unanimously extended Eversource's Stormwater Management Permit No. 20-07 for the Sudbury-Hudson Transmission Reliability Project by one year so consultant Mark Bergeron of Epsilon Associates can complete revegetation monitoring and file for full closeout by mid-2026. Duchesneau also reported a signed contract with BSC Group to produce a new Open Space and Recreation Plan, funded by a $100,000 CPC award from 2022.
