Planning Board approves Carroll School site plan in unanimous vote
WAYLAND — April 15, 2026 — Wayland Planning Board unanimously approves Carroll School site plan after line-by-line edits. The 5-0 vote at the April 15 meeting authorizes Chair Anette Lewis and Town Planner Robert Hummel to finalize the decision by Friday's deadline for The Carroll School's expansion at 37-45 Waltham Road. Conditions require a $10,000 deposit into a Chapter 53G peer review fund, up to $5,000 for traffic mitigation studies, construction hours capped at 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, dark-sky lighting and landscape screening along Waltham Road. Neighbors' attorney Dan Hill called the on-screen review "very difficult" to react to in real time, but won language carrying forward 2016 athletic-field restrictions on lighting, scoreboards and amplified sound. The board also voted 5-0 to formalize Lewis and Vice Chair Robin Borgestedt as a subcommittee on MBTA Communities zoning after Borgestedt described an April 13 Finance Committee meeting as "a colossal waste of everyone's time."
