LS School Committee extends bus contract, adopts zero-emissions vehicle policy

SUDBURY — April 8, 2026 — LS School Committee reviews state anti-Semitism report and adopts zero-emissions vehicle policy. Superintendent and Principal Andrew Stephens walked the committee through the Massachusetts Special Commission on Combating Antisemitism's late-December final report, mapping LSRHS practices against its K-12 recommendations and flagging the absence of systematic bias-incident data collection as the largest gap. Chair Ravi Simon, who cited Acton-Boxborough and Concord-Carlisle as models, said the school is "so reactive to whenever there's a single incident" without trend data. The committee voted unanimously to approve the final year of its five-year First Student bus contract, shared with Sudbury Public Schools, and unanimously adopted the Town of Sudbury's Zero Emission Vehicle First Policy. METCO Director Damon told members transportation gaps continue to block Boston students from athletics and arts participation, citing the loss of late-bus service. Two LS students received Atkinson Scholarships this year, down from four two years ago.
