Littleton School Committee votes to hire Dr. Michael Caira as superintendent

LITTLETON — April 9, 2026 — Littleton School Committee selects Dr. Michael Caira as its next superintendent following a divided first vote and a unified second. The committee voted twice April 9 to offer Caira the position of Superintendent of Littleton Public Schools, subject to contract negotiation and with a target start date of July 1, 2026, to succeed outgoing Superintendent Kelly Clenchy. The first vote, on a motion by Vice Chair Binal Patel seconded by member Jeanine Wood, passed 3-2, with Chair Justin McCarthy and Clerk Elaine Santelmann dissenting. McCarthy then immediately moved a second identical motion — "to demonstrate a unified commitment to the new leadership," per the minutes — which passed unanimously 5-0.
