Littleton School Committee Approves Three Policies, Honors Departing Vice Chair Patel
LITTLETON — April 30, 2026 — Littleton School Committee recognizes departing Vice Chair Binal Patel and begins early push for FY28 funding. Chair Justin McCarthy led the April 30 meeting at the Littleton Police Station Community Room, where all five members attended and the committee voted unanimously to approve policies BEDG, JFBB, and JH on second reading. McCarthy presented a draft memorandum to the Littleton Finance Committee and Select Board providing advance notice of district budget needs beginning in fiscal year 2028; members including Patel and Clerk Elaine Santelmann called for adding historical budget and performance data before the letter is sent. Business Manager Steve Mark reported approximately $5 million in remaining salary obligations and said the Littleton Middle School HVAC project has been awarded with equipment on order for summer. The Project Management and Building Committee confirmed the new Shaker Lane School remains on track for a May 2029 opening, with a community design forum set for May 12. Nine of 16 DECA students who qualified for the state competition advanced to the international level in Atlanta.
