Littleton Reports Strong OPEB Progress, Road Reclamation Work Underway
The town reported meaningful progress on its unfunded retiree-benefit obligations Tuesday while a pavement preservation and reclamation project that kicked off Monday rolls through its second day on local roads.
TOWN HALL
Littleton released its Massachusetts OPEB Summary Report on Tuesday, describing continued strong progress on long-term financial planning. OPEB — Other Post-Employment Benefits — refers to retiree health and similar obligations that municipalities must track and fund over time. Strong performance on this metric signals the town is steadily reducing a liability that can quietly balloon in communities that let it go unmanaged.
Also active this week: the pavement preservation and reclamation project that began Monday, June 22. The town updated its News Flash alert Tuesday to reflect current work status. Residents on affected streets should expect construction activity and possible delays; the town's alert page at littletonma.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=577 carries the latest routing details.
