Littleton Board of Health Approves Variances for Two Septic System Projects
LITTLETON — March 25, 2026 — Littleton Board of Health unanimously approved septic variances for two properties and flagged significant gaps in its tobacco regulations at its March 25 meeting. The board voted 3-0 twice — once for 9 Woodland Drive, approving variances under local Regulations 23 and 27 and a Title 5 groundwater offset reduction, and once for 17 Worcester Drive, where a novel Percorite drip dispersal system drew extended questioning about foundation setbacks and deed restriction language before members approved a package of conditions including a two-bedroom deed restriction, a planting prohibition within five feet of the leach field, and a boulder barrier between the driveway and the system. On tobacco, Health Agent Francis Dale and the board worked through a draft regulatory update targeting a May adoption but found that a 2019 amendment may never have been formally codified anywhere — raising concerns that any enforcement of provisions from that version could be legally vulnerable. The board plans to meet in early April to resolve open questions including cigar price thresholds, permit transfer language, and whether oral nicotine pouches above six milligrams should be banned outright.
