Library Hosts Pride Trivia Tonight; Town Boards Pack Wednesday Agenda
The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library's Pride Trivia night lands this evening, and a cluster of town board meetings fills Wednesday's public agenda — making for a busy stretch heading into the last full week of June.
TOWN HALL
A new display at the Americal Civic Center is drawing attention to Wakefield's World War II history. The uniform of Pfc. Joseph E. Rapallo, a WWII veteran, is now on view in the Heritage Room, donated by the Rapallo family. The display adds to the civic center's ongoing collection honoring the town's military past.
The town has also published its full Independence Day activity schedule, with events and entertainment planned from morning through night on July 4. Parking information is available on the town website at wakefield.ma.us.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Tonight at 7 p.m., the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library invites residents to Pride Trivia in the library's Living Room. Librarians assembled the entire game using library resources, covering LGBTQIA+ history, culture, and more. The event is free and open to the public at 345 Main Street.
The library also has summer programming underway for adults, including the Libraryland summer reading game and an upcoming Music Bingo event for music lovers. Details on both are at wakefieldlibrary.org.
ELSEWHERE IN THE NEWS
Wakefield Patch published "Here Are The 10 Most Recently Sold Properties In Wakefield," a roundup of the town's most recent real estate transactions drawn from Zillow data. The list offers a snapshot of where the local housing market stands heading into midsummer, per Wakefield Patch (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/wakefield).
Patch also flagged two statewide stories with local relevance. "MA Beach Closures Rise To 28 As Downpours Cause Flash Flooding, Stormwater Runoff" — Tuesday's heavy rain drove a surge in closures across the state as stormwater runoff entered coastal waters, per Wakefield Patch citing Patch staff reporting (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/wakefield). And "SJC Clears Way For Ballot Question That Would Eliminate Political Party Primaries In Massachusetts" — the state's highest court allowed a proposed open-primary ballot question to proceed, which would place candidates from all parties on a single primary ballot, per Wakefield Patch citing CBS Boston (read it at https://patch.com/massachusetts/wakefield).
