Lexington Launches Soccer Celebration Arena at Visitors Center Lawn June 16
With the June 16 special town election just four days away, the town on Friday announced a 10-day soccer celebration at the Visitors Center Lawn and reminded residents that municipal offices will go dark the following Friday for Juneteenth — a week that also brings a freshly revised School Committee agenda and a full slate of board meetings.
TOWN HALL
The Lexington Visitors Center Lawn will be transformed into a soccer celebration arena from June 16 through June 26, according to a News Flash posted Friday afternoon. The event ties to the international soccer calendar and gives residents nearly two weeks of programming steps from the town center.
Separately, the town confirmed that all non-emergency town offices and buildings will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Emergency services are not affected.
The Select Board is accepting applications through June 26 from residents interested in representing Lexington on the Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical School Committee. Interested residents can apply through the town's website.
The town homepage also flags a June 16 special town election; residents should visit lexingtonma.gov for polling location and ballot details.
SCHOOLS
Two revised agendas landed Friday morning. The School Committee's June 16 hybrid meeting and the Board of Health's June 16 remote meeting both received updated agendas as of Friday, June 12. The School Building Committee convenes remotely on Monday, June 15, a day before the election-day cluster of board meetings.
