Hopkinton Schools Set June 24 Last Day as Library Launches Summer Programs
With the school year down to its final two weeks, the Hopkinton Public Library opens a full slate of summer events this Saturday while students and families navigate a packed end-of-year calendar leading to a June 24 last day of school.
SCHOOLS
The district calendar shows the year wrapping up fast. Preschool ends June 16. High school exams begin June 18, continuing June 22, 23, and 24. The district closes June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. The last day of school for grades K through 11 is June 24, with an early dismissal at 12:20 p.m. and no lunch served. Incoming kindergarten families should also note that Kindergarten Night is scheduled for both June 17 and June 18, running from 6 to 6:30 p.m. — see the district site for location details.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Hopkinton Public Library has a full Saturday on tap for June 13: Pride Storytime runs 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Children's Programming Room; Drop-in Family Activities follow in the same space from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and the Step Into a Book! Audiobook Walking Club sets out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at an off-site location listed in the event description.
Drivers should plan ahead for the following week: the library's parking lot will be closed all day Thursday, June 18, due to utility work. Staff note the building may be warmer than usual that day. Library summer hours are now in effect — the branch is closed Sundays from Memorial Day through Labor Day; weekday hours run 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June's Guest Librarian feature spotlights Ian Richardson, Administrative Assistant for both the Town Clerk's office and Human Resources. He and his fiancé Ashleigh have assembled a list of horror recommendations for readers who like stories that linger. Anyone interested in participating as a future Guest Librarian can contact Library Director Nanci Hill at nhill@hopkintonma.gov.
