Historical Commission deems 317 Old Lancaster Road historically significant, triggering demolition plan review

SUDBURY — March 10, 2026 — Sudbury Historical Commission triggers demolition delay review at 1851 Greek Revival miller's house. The commission voted unanimously March 10 to find the house at 317 Old Lancaster Road historically significant, requiring applicant Nikhil Bosrecker to file a partial demolition plan within 60 days before mudroom, ADU and garage work can proceed. Chair Christopher Hagger said the front block and original rear ell, surveyed by Gretchen Schuller in 1995, remain historic, while a mid-1900s second ell does not. Member Jan Costa noted the house's link to a 19th-century Hop Brook saw and grist mill: "There aren't a lot of those left." The commission also dissolved a January steering-committee motion on Town Counsel's advice that it could trigger Open Meeting Law, and member Kimberly Burns reported preserving $15,038 in 2004 cemetery-restoration funds after a March 4 CPC presentation, with about $900 earmarked for the Maynard Wheeler stone.
