Historical Commission clears 215 Mossman Road for partial demolition

SUDBURY — April 14, 2026 — Sudbury Historical Commission clears 215 Mossman Road demolition and launches Hosmer House design phase. The commission voted 7-0 Tuesday that the Mossman Road house — substantially altered through 1960s, 1970s and 1980s additions and replacement windows — is not historically significant under Article XXVIII, allowing a partial demolition permit. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran reported the town manager signed a design contract that afternoon with Architectural Preservation Studios for the Hosmer House envelope and HVAC work, with possible fall 2026 construction. Contracted archivist Francesco Vuchella outlined his six-month sorting plan, and member Kim Burns won 6-0-1 approval of a scope of work using roughly $14,000 in remaining CPA funds for gravestone cleaning and repair. The commission also approved up to $200 each for May 16 docent food and Hosmer House cleaning supplies.
