Goodnow trustees approve 2025 annual report; back FY27 library budget

SUDBURY — February 3, 2026 — Goodnow trustees approve 2025 annual report and review a 4.5 percent FY27 library line. The board voted unanimously Feb. 3 to approve the eight-page annual report after correcting the spelling of trustee Megan Kelley's surname, and walked through the town manager's proposed FY27 library budget, which Library Director Amy said includes step increases, level funding for general expense, automation and contract services, and an increase for books and materials; a requested additional position was not funded. The library's lone FY27 capital request is HVAC design funding, for units Amy said "were scheduled to be replaced in 2018." Amy reported 1,227 Library of Things checkouts in 2025 and 625 teens at Teen Study Week; she also confirmed the library switched its staff-side internet from Verizon to Comcast in mid-January after near-daily outages and has paused its new Smart Locker pickup after items went missing in delivery. The Goodnow Library Foundation reported a $50,000 endowment gift and a Bradshaw family grant of up to $25,000 for children's room improvements.
