Council on Aging endorses $250,000 accessibility grant for Haskell Field

SUDBURY — June 8, 2026 — Sudbury Council on Aging endorses $250,000 accessibility grant and seats first alternate director. The board voted unanimously June 8 to send a letter of support for Director of Combined Facilities Sandra Duran's Massachusetts Office on Disability grant application, which would fund an accessible circuit path at Haskell Field, a 30-by-30-foot pavilion at Fairbank Community Center and connector pathways to a restored second multi-sport court. Chair Paul Marotta agreed to draft the letter overnight before the June 12 application deadline. Vice-Chair Pat Tabloski, who moved the support, said the current route "feels like I'm trespassing" because it cuts through a private way. The board also voted unanimously to appoint Patsy Maxon as its first alternate director under the new Article 21 bylaw, and Director Nickole Boardman announced a three-year, $225,000 Cummings Foundation award for the senior center's expanding weekly lunch program. Formal adoption of the strategic plan was tabled to August 10.
