Conservation Commission Issues Compliance Certificate for 54 South Street Riverfront Addition

MEDFORD — April 28, 2026 — Medford Conservation Commission unanimously issues certificate of compliance for a 54 South Street residential addition in the Mystic River Riverfront Area. The commission, meeting with a bare quorum on April 28, closed out DEP file number 2150230 after staff confirmed the September 2024 RISE landscape plan had been fully implemented, including required planting beds and trees within the 200-foot Riverfront Area. The original order of conditions had required 750 square feet of planting area; commissioners noted an additional tree was installed beyond that baseline. Looking ahead, staff announced a new Request for Determination of Applicability from the Mystic River Watershed Association covering a second phase of invasive species removal extending into the Clippership Connector corridor, and disclosed an anticipated Notice of Intent from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation — subject undisclosed — with both items expected at the May 20 hearing.
