Conservation Commission approves 89 Stone Road riverfront permit after redesign
SUDBURY — March 9, 2026 — Sudbury Conservation Commission approves 89 Stone Road wetlands order after riverfront redesign. The commission voted 5-0 to issue an order of conditions for additions, a new septic system and stormwater work at the property after Cornerstone Engineering's Vito Colonna shifted most additions to the front of the house and Goddard Consulting confirmed a side channel of Dudley Brook as a perennial stream under the local bylaw. Goddard's Sophia Sale presented a mitigation plan to remove roughly 2,300 square feet of bittersweet, burning bush and Japanese barberry at a two-to-one ratio, with two years of monitoring. Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone raised the native-plant survival standard in the order to 90 percent from the applicant's proposed 75 percent, and Sale agreed to substitute American hazelnut for low-bush blueberry where shade is heavier. Chair David Henkels said he wanted the mitigation to succeed "the first time around." The commission also continued cases at 32 Emerson Way, 87 Anmore Road and 94 Prides Crossing without discussion.
