Concord Imposes Level 1 Water Restriction, Names Interim Public Works Director

Concord entered Level 1 water restriction status Friday, limiting lawn irrigation to one day per week, while Town Manager Kerry Lafleur announced a leadership transition at the Department of Public Works ahead of a packed paving week.

TOWN HALL

The town's Level 1 water restriction, posted Friday morning, caps outdoor lawn watering to once a week effective immediately. Residents should visit the town's website to confirm their designated watering day and review applicable rules. Full details are posted at concordma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=2081.

On the personnel front, Town Manager Kerry Lafleur has appointed Aaron Miklosko as Interim Director of Concord Public Works. Miklosko assumes the role upon the retirement of current Director Alan Cathcart on June 19.

Road work is already underway: final paving on both Orchard Road and Adin Drive was scheduled to begin today, June 12. That work carries into a full week of street projects beginning June 15, with crews slated for Hill Street, Orchard Road, Main Street, Adin Drive, Stow Street, Everett Street, Sudbury Road, and Devens Street. Drivers should plan for delays and consider alternate routes through mid-week.

MassDOT will host a public information meeting on the Route 2 Rotary on Wednesday, June 24, at 6 p.m. in the Concord Middle School Auditorium. Residents with questions or concerns about the rotary project are encouraged to attend.

SCHOOLS

The Concord Public Schools year is in its final days: June 17 is the 180th and last day of classes, with Juneteenth observed as a holiday on June 19.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Concord Free Public Library reminds patrons that all branches — the Main Library at 129 Main Street and the Fowler Branch at 1322 Main Street — will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
