Burlington Closes Friday for Juneteenth as Final-Exam Week Begins Monday

Town Hall and Burlington Public Schools will both be closed Friday, June 19, for the Juneteenth National Independence Day holiday — the last pause before a packed closing stretch of the 2025-26 school year that includes high school finals, the Marshall Simonds eighth-grade promotion ceremony, and a School Committee meeting all arriving in the same week.

TOWN HALL

Town offices at 29 Center Street will be dark all day Friday in observance of Juneteenth; normal business hours — Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. — resume Monday, June 22. The Select Board is also scheduled to meet Monday evening.

SCHOOLS

Burlington Public Schools are out Friday for Juneteenth. When students return Monday, Burlington High School launches final exams with Periods 3 and 2; Period 1 and make-up exams follow Tuesday, June 23, with a make-up and Student Obligation Day on Wednesday, June 24. If the district used all five of its built-in snow days, Wednesday also serves as the last day of school.

Monday evening marks one of the year's signature milestones: the Marshall Simonds Middle School eighth-grade promotion ceremony runs 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The School Committee holds its next meeting Tuesday, June 23 at 7 p.m.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Burlington Public Library has two programs on tap for Monday, June 22: Baby Storytime and Teen Flower Bookmarks, both listed on the town's events calendar.
